Voice Thread for Online Communication
VoiceThread provides an opportunity for presentations and discussions to be posted to engage collaborators into a dialogue surrounding a theme, question or discussion. This level of communicating keeps a discussion relevant and live. Voice Thread changes the level of discussion from reading a post to a meaningful dialogue. Voice Thread gives you the options of a voice response or text typed reply, however Voice Thread, video presentations will allow you to see the person presenting, their mood, tone, and body language while discussion the topic at hand. What do you feel are the limitations of VoiceThread or are there any?
To me, the limitation of VoiceThread is the same as any audio/video--participants have to be where they can have sound in order to know what's going on. For a lot of people, sound at the computer is a given, but during the semester, the majority of my workday is spent at a computer without speakers and using headphones would discourage people from approaching me at the very time I'm trying to be approachable!
ReplyDeleteBut my context is different than many people's, so I adjust accordingly (and do things with sound either during lunch or at home during the semester). :-)
This is your blog, so what do you think of this tool? In you limited exposure to VoiceThread, what did you see as limitations?

Thanks Cynthia.... In thinking it through this is a limitation. It appears that audio portion of VideoThread could be a limitation for some. I was so excited about Voice Thread that I didn't see any limitations. Noted.....
ReplyDeleteTrollgeek: It was evident that at the time I didn't see any limitations, so I wanted thought partners around this. Students will probably note that there are technology expectations and will make sure that they are able to communicate through VoiceThread . Additionally, they will be provided the learning support to navigate the system to ensure success.
